Clothesline Memory

hanging out the wash

Miles City, 111 S. Center, across from the high school. Sunny day, 1950, living in the rented house. In the backyard, I am playing next to the clothesline where mom is pinning up the laundry. The backyard faces the railroad tracks. A man with a backpack approaches and asks for a sandwich.

Why is this scene memorialized? The elements?

There is a second memory, of a neighbor girl hanging upside down from the pole.
